BOEING CLASSIC OPENS ITS GATES TO ALL FANS FOR “FREE FRIDAY”
New Partnership with Golf Galaxy Will Provide All Spectators Free Admittance to the First Day of Competition on Friday, August 27

The Boeing Classic, in partnership with Golf Galaxy, has announced
that through the new promotion FREE FRIDAY, all spectators will be provided complimentary access to TPC Snoqualmie Ridge on Friday, August 27th, for the first day of tournament competition. Fresh off impressive performances at the U.S. Senior Open, fans will have the opportunity to watch up close Fred Couples and Bernhard Langer as well as Tom Kite, Loren Roberts, Mark O’Meara, Fred Funk and many more legends of the game without having to stretch their entertainment dollar. Never before has the tournament opened its gates to all fans on a competition day.
“Creating a partnership with the Golf Galaxy has been a great opportunity because we are like-minded in wanting to engage and reward golf enthusiasts in this area,” said Tournament Director Michelle DeLancy. “FREE FRIDAY is the perfect way to thank those who have supported the Boeing Classic the past five years and also give those who haven’t been out to the tournament yet an incentive to come out and see for themselves what a great event we have every year right in our backyard.”
An added benefit for those spectators who take advantage of FREE FRIDAY is their opportunity to witness the most unique start to an event on the PGA TOUR. An annual tradition that has become one of the most popular aspects of the Boeing Classic, when the pros hit the course for the start of competition, the event won't be signaled by a shotgun blast, but rather by the sound and appearance of a Boeing 777 jetliner. On Friday at about 11:20 a.m., the airplane, provided courtesy of The Boeing Company, will fly at about 1,000 feet over the area before circling the course at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge, lining up with the 18th fairway, and flying up and over the clubhouse. It’s an impressive site and a truly memorable component of the Boeing Classic experience.
The Boeing Classic is an Official Event of the PGA TOUR Champions Tour and in 2009 celebrated its fifth anniversary. In the tournament’s five-year history, more than $2.9 million has been raised for Greater Seattle Charities. The 2010 event will be played at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge from August 23-30. Highlights during the course of the week include the Rumble on the Ridge (August 23), the Charles Schwab Youth Clinic (August 24) and the Seahawks Pro-Am (August 25-26). Tournament competition will take place from August 27-29. Notable players who have already committed to this year’s event include Fred Couples, Mark O’Meara, Hale Irwin, Bernhard Langer, Tom Kite and more.
