DEFENDING CHAMPION LOREN ROBERTS CONDUCTS MEDIA TOUR

On Sunday night Loren Roberts awaited his flight in Memphis after spending some time away from the Champions

TOUR at home with his family. At the time his plane was scheduled to depart, the screen suddenly flashed

“DELAYED” and the announcement was made that the airline was dealing with a mechanical issue. With only a

short window of time available to spend in Seattle before a scheduled flight to Oregon for the Jeld-Wen Tournament

Roberts knew the wake-up call would come early, but his commitment to promote the Boeing Classic and

successfully defend his title was first and foremost on his mind. He arrived in Seattle very late Sunday night and

though many would not blame him for wanting to cut the day’s agenda short, Roberts instead enthusiastically

navigated his way through the day while helping to grow the awareness of the Boeing Classic and the Champions

Tour along the way.

LOREN ROBERTS: ONE DAY IN SEATTLE

7:45am:

to visit the KJR studios for the “Mitch in the Morning” show.

8:20am:

controversy, Roberts’ own Major disappointment at the 1994 US Open, his shared experience with Fred Couples at

Sahalee’s second hole, the key to being a great putter and, of course, the draw of playing in the Boeing Classic.

“You get such great crowds here and that’s why (the Pros) come. The course has such a great finish, anything can

happen on that last hole, and then with the amphitheater setting at the green… it’s just a great place to play.”

10:00am:

“Northwest Sports Tonight.”

11:00am:

Korean Air, The First Tee and more than 100 others on-hand for the event.

“Without question you (Boeing) are the best sponsor (on the Champions Tour). You’ve been associated with this

tournament for a long time, and you spare no expense, and it’s a first class tournament and a first-class operation.”

1:30pm:

before then conducting interviews with KOMO and Q13 and articulate his appreciation for the local volunteers who

give of their time to support the tournament.

“Every Champions Tour player understands that without volunteers, we do not have a tour. We just want to say

thank you to all the volunteers for what you’re doing. A thousand strong every week, every tournament on the

Champions Tour, and we really appreciate that, thank you very much.”

2:30pm:

stands at the top of the 14

round last year to capture the Boeing Classic title.

“It was an exciting tournament for me last year. To battle down with Mark O’Meara the way I did down the stretch

and to come to the 17

that was at the tournament it was an exciting finish.”

4:00pm:

appearances in less than eight hours.

“Now Michelle, when I was here for the U.S. Senior Open a couple weeks ago I went out there and checked on the

blackberries because you know how much I love to eat the blackberries out on the courses up here. Well, they

weren’t ripe yet, they were just kinda coming out, so I’m looking forward to coming back and having dessert I’m

playing the golf course.”

5:20pm: Roberts flight to Oregon departs… on time.
