Adaptive Golf Clinic (special skills or experience required)

In an effort to help make the game of golf accessible to all individuals, the Boeing Classic and Virginia Mason Medical Center have created this special clinic is for individuals with physical and mental disabilities. The participants in this clinic will receive individual instruction by a team comprised of a therapist and golf professional to address theirr particular disability. Volunteers will participate in this event by directing light traffic to the location as well as assisting participants as needed to the clinic area. Volunteers need to be prepared to walk as much as ¼ mile and push a wheelchair up to 250 pounds.

ONLY DAY/TIME AVAILABLE: Tuesday, August 21st 12:00pm- 5:00pm.


Administration Services

Support tournament staff as needed in the tournament headquarters onsite at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge. Duties will include answering the tournament main telephone line, providing clerical assistance, managing incoming and outgoing deliveries and organizing the tournament office.

Days /Shifts: Daytime shifts available Friday, Aug. 17, Saturday, Aug. 18, and Sunday, Aug. 19 before tournament week. AM and PM shifts (5pm-9pm) are available Monday-Sunday of Tournament week.


Admissions/Spectator Services

The front lines in helping to make the tournament spectators' experience a positive one, this committee will aid in selling tickets, dispensing golfer pairing sheets, managing Will-Call and Lost & Found, and greeting spectators at the main gates. Work shifts are approximately four to five hours between 6 AM to 4 PM Monday, 9 AM to 4 PM Tuesday, 6 AM to 4 PM Wednesday and Thursday, 8 AM to 6 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday-Thursday shifts have been filled.

Broadcast Support (Requirement: Must work Friday-Sunday of the Tournament) COMMITTEE FILLED

Take part in the behind-the-scenes magic of television in support of the Golf Channel broadcast. Volunteers may be stationed at a particular hole as a spotter or microphone operator while others may walk with a particular group to provide real time updates. Volunteers for this committee need a basic understanding of golf and must be in good physical condition. Work shifts are approximately six hours from the start to the end of play on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Caddies Center COMMITTEE FILLED

One of the busiest locations on the course, at the Caddies Center volunteers will assist the pros’ hard-working assistants through caddie registration, issuing of caddie bibs and food vouchers and providing snacks and beverages. Work shifts are four hours minimum between 9 AM to 5 PM on Monday and Tuesday, 6 AM to 6 PM Wednesday and Thursday, and two hours before the first tee time until the Driving Range is empty after round on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday some committee members will be needed until 7 PM.

Concierge Committee (Reserved committee)

This committee is reserved for volunteers pre-appointed to the Concierge Committee.

Course Marshals

Marshals are the largest group of volunteers on the course assisting players and spectators alike. Placed strategically on every hole, marshals help to keep play proceeding smoothly by watching for errant shots and providing gallery control. It is also the goal of the marshals to help spectators find the optimal view of play and ensure the experience is an enjoyable one for everyone taking part in the experiencen. Some knowledge of golf is desirable, but not necessary. Walking is involved. Marshals must be able to work at least one shift on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. Work shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are an hour before the first tee time to the end of play, approximately 10AM to 6PM. Work shifts for Wednesday and Thursday (Pro-Am) are morning (7AM - 1PM) or afternoon (1PM - 7PM).

Days /Shifts: AM or PM during PRO-AM on Wednesday-Thursday only. ALL DAY during Tournamant on Friday-Sunday.


Driving Range COMMITTEE FILLED

It’s where every pro starts his day and you can be there to help make it all happen. On this committee you will help maintain the Driving Range and short game practice areas by ensuring golf balls are available for practice; cleaning, sorting and bagging golf balls; keeping track of player name signs and other activities. Light physical activity such as lifting (40 lbs or less) and bending over may be required. Work shifts are four hours minimum. Depending on tournament activities, hours for Monday and Tuesday can be from 8AM to dusk in 4 hour shifts;  6AM to dusk Wednesday and Thursday, and 8AM until Driving Range is empty after round on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Ecology

A clean and well-maintained course is imperative to leaving a positive impression upon the spectators who attend our event. Help the tournament’s Ecology contractor to maintain cleanliness of high-volume spectator traffic areas around the course, including sponsor hospitality skyboxes, concession stands and public viewing locations. Work shifts are six hours from the start to the finish of play on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Honorary Observer (Reserved committee)

This committee is reserved for volunteers appointed to the Honorary Observer committee.

Days /Shifts: ALL DAY only Friday-Sunday of Tournament.


Long Drive

See firsthand just how impressive the Champions Tour pros are on the Long Drive Committee. Volunteers work in teams using laser range finders and reflectors to measure drive distances on particular holes identified by the tour operations staff. Knowledge of golf etiquette is helpful.

Media Center

It’s critical to keep those who aren’t at the course aware of what’s happening, so for that we rely upon the media covering the tournament throughout the week. Assist in Media Center to register media members, drive media members to various locations, answer phones, assist photographers, post scores and more. Work shifts are five hours minimum between 8 AM to 6 PM Monday through Sunday.

Medical Tent (Credentials required)

Take care of those in need at the various medical tents located throughout the course.

REQUIREMENT: Medical Assistant Credentials and up are required for this committee. You must be a credentialed Virginia Mason or BRI employee.

Pro-Am

The Pro-Am provides a unique opportunity for corporate partners to enjoy spending a day on the course with some of the biggest names in golf and greatly contributes to the charitable proceeds raised for the Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason. In helping to give our corporate partners a first class experience, you will register players and distribute participant gifts, organize player golf bags, prepare golf carts and other activities as needed. Some physical activity is required, including lifting and carrying golf bags and boxes. Work shifts are 6 to 8 AM, 11 AM to 1:30 PM, and 5:30 to 7:30 PM Wednesday and Thursday.

Retail Merchandise Center

Help fans take home a piece of the Boeing Classic. As part of the merchandise center you will greet customers, assist with selling merchandise, and fill in stock levels. Work shift 4 hours minimum. Monday 7am-3:30pm, Tuesday 9am-1pm, Wednesday 7am-5pm, Thursday 7am-5pm, Friday 8:00 am - 6:30 pm, Saturday 8:00 am - 6:30 pm and Sunday 8:00 am - 6:30 pm.

Days /Shifts: Monday-Thursday AM: 9am-4pm or PM: 1pm-6:30pm, Friday-Sunday AM: 8am-3pm and 10am-5pm or PM: Noon-6:30pm


Scoreboard Operations

The large manual scoreboards located on the course are essential to keeping spectators and players aware of how the competition is shaping up. Volunteers post players’ golf scores using information provided via two-way radios and/or computers. Work shifts are approximately five hours minimum between 10 AM and 6 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Shuttle Carts COMMITTEE FILLED

Shuttle cart volunteers get people where they need to be on the course. You may be asked to transport volunteer marshals/walking scorers to assigned work areas prior to tournament play, drive players between holes as needed during play, and transport volunteer marshals/walking scorers back from assignments to Volunteer Center at the end of play. Knowledge of golf etiquette and ATTENTION TO SAFETY ARE MANDATORY. Prior shuttle cart experience is preferred. Work shifts are four hours minimum: Wednesday and Thursday (Pro-Am) 6 AM-7 PM. ALL Day shift only Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Tournament 9 AM-6 PM.

Skybox Hospitality

The tournament's corporate partners are a significant source of revenue and promotional value for the Boeing Classic. At various hospitality locations, including the 18th and 14th holes, volunteers will greet guests, check credentials and politely assert themselves to ensure Quiet in the Skyboxes at critical times of play. Work shift is 12 PM-6 PM only (break included); may be later till end of play.

Standard Bearers COMMITTEE FILLED

No one may have more eyes on them than the Standard Bearers… except maybe the players themselves. Walking behind the ropes for an entire round, you will carry a scoreboard that displays the individual scores of the players in your group. To volunteer on this committee you must be 14-years-old and in good physical condition. Work shift begins at 10 AM to the end of play on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Transportation

Before, during and after the tournament you can be a part of assisting players, tour and tournament officials with their transportation needs. Responsibilities include driving tournament shuttle vehicles and rental cars to their designated location(s), assisting Champions Tour pros and other officials during their time in Seattle and returning the courtesy car fleet to auto dealerships. Volunteers are needed a week prior to tournament week and up to four days following (August 13—August 29). Work shift varies daily. Volunteers must be 21 years of age and carry a valid driver’s license.

Volunteer Center

If you enjoy being in the center of all the action, this is the place for you. Check-in volunteers, provide food vouchers, and be prepared to support other committees and accept special assignments as required. Work shift is four hours minimum between 6 AM to 6 PM Monday thru Thursday, and 6 AM to 7 PM Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Minimum number of volunteers (no more than three) required for 6 AM to 9 AM shifts.

Volunteer Rover

This is a great committee for the new or returning volunteer as you are able to get a flavor of different volunteer opportunities across the tournament. You receive a variety of assignments to assist other volunteer committees and tournament staff as needed. Work shift is four hours minimum from 7 AM to 6 PM Monday thru Sunday.

Volunteer Uniforms COMMITTEE FILLED

Have a great time with a very fun group! Help set up, distribute uniforms and clean up at Orientation/Training sessions prior to Tournament and every day during Tournament week. Orientation shifts are approximately 3-4 hours in the AM on Saturday August 18, and Sunday August 19, prior to Tournament week. Work shifts during Tournament week are 4-6 hours in length on Monday thru Sunday and consist of setup, organizing, check-in new volunteers, answer questions, etc.

Days/Shifts: AM on Saturday August 18, and Sunday August 19, prior to Tournament week. AM, PM, and ALL DAY Monday-Sunday of Tournament week.


Walking Scorers (Pro-Am shift is required in order to work the Tournament) COMMITTEE FILLED

If you love the game of golf and appreciate the importance of every shot in a round, this is the team for you. Volunteers will walk with player groups and record player scores and statistics on an electronic device or paper scorecard. Training is provided by the Champions Tour. Walking Scorers must work for at least one round during the Pro-Am on Wednesday or Thursday before working during the tournament. Volunteers must be in good physical condition so as to be able to easily walk all eighteen holes. Work shifts during Pro-Am and the tournament are approximately six hours between 7 AM and 6 PM on Wednesday and Thursday and 10 AM and 6 PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Days /Shifts: AM or PM on Wednesday-Thursday only (PRO-AM). ALL DAY only during Tournament Friday-Sunday.
